According to the findings of a new study, people who are exposed to the herpes simplex type 1 virus also run a higher risk of suffering from cognitive decline, especially thinking and memory problems.
The study
To check if exposure to herpes simplex virus and other common infections could possibly cause cognitive dysfunctions, researchers at the Columbia University Medical Center in New York conducted memory and thinking tests on 1,625 people averaging 69 years.
